CTAS Orientation:
The Department of
Justice Coordinated
Tribal Assistance
Solicitation (CTAS)
Committee will be
conducting the FY 2012
CTAS Orientation
workshop on December 5,
2012. The CTAS
Orientation workshop is
designed to provide CTAS
grant recipients with
the tools and guidance
necessary to implement
and operate programs
funded under the FY 2012
CTAS initiative.
Workshop sessions will
focus on topics such as:
Programmatic reporting
and grant management;
Financial reporting and
management; Grant
compliance; Training and
Technical Assistance
resources; and Relevant
initiatives and
highlights from DOJ
offices. Grant
recipients will have an
opportunity to meet
one-on-one with DOJ
staff and TTA providers
to discuss project
development and
implementation issues.
As required under the
CTAS program, grant
recipients should have
identified personnel in
their budget to attend
training events. There
is no registration fee
required to attend the
CTAS Orientation
workshop. CTAS grant
recipients are
authorized to use grant
funds to cover travel
expenses to attend the
CTAS Orientation. Grant
recipients should ensure
that there is at least
one representative for
each purpose area funded
under the FY 2012 CTAS.
In accordance with CTAS
application guidelines,
grant recipients should
have budgeted for at
least two staff to
attend training events.
Please work with your appropriate CTAS Purpose Area grant manager on
any budget revisions,
questions, or concerns
regarding the use of
funds for this purpose.
Please confirm your
attendance by contacting
your program manager.
Please be advised that
there is no prohibition
on grant recipients
using grant funds to
cover the cost of
registration and travel
for the 13th National
Indian Nations
Conference: Justice for
Victims of Crime
Conference. However,
grant recipients should
work with the
appropriate CTAS Purpose
Area grant manager on
any budget revisions,
questions, or concerns
regarding the use of
funds for this purpose.

cases in tribal
communities.
Specific
discussion will
focus on
understanding
domestic
violence and
sexual assault
in tribal
communities,
working with
victims through
the trial
process,
victims’ rights
considerations
for prosecutors,
making charging
decisions,
specific rules
of evidence and
sentencing
considerations. |
