 Law and Order Act (TLOA) Enhanced Sentencing. We will review the recently updated and expanded tribal code resource Tribal Laws: Implementing TLOA VAWA Enhanced Jurisdiction and Enhanced Sentencing which has been developed by the Tribal Law and Policy Institute
 (TLPI). <br>
<br>
Indian tribes have the general authority to implement criminal jurisdiction over non-Indians who violate protective orders or commit domestic violence or dating violence against Indian victims on tribal lands. Tribes wishing to exercise this Special Domestic
 Violence Criminal Jurisdiction (SDVCJ) must provide certain rights to the criminal defendants and maintain certain legal standards within their community. Examples of how tribes have addressed elements of their code in a culturally appropriate manner for their
 community will be shared, and participants will be introduced to a model code developed by the three initial Pilot Project Tribes (Umatilla, Tulalip, and Pascua Yaqui) and a resource guide for drafting or revising Tribal laws to implement the enhanced sentencing
 provisions of TLOA and the special jurisdiction provisions of the Violence Against Women Reauthorization of 2013 (VAWA 2013).
