[Tribal-drug-courts] disqualifier

You may want to see if you can get the underlying police or investigatory reports. Sometimes child molestation charges get pled down to child abuse. Or, it could have been a bad domestic violence case with children present. The person may have been permitted to plead guilty to a child abuse charge to avoid the federal firearms prohibition that would have kicked in with a DV conviction. In some instances, there is more to the story once the reports are secured and reviewed.

Good Morning,

Here in Gila River it is not an automatic disqualifier since substance abuse could be the underlying cause of the criminal charges. We really only automatically disqualify for sexual assault/abuse related charges. We are not currently receiving federal grant monies either and I know that disqualification for violent offenses is a requirement for federal grants.

Hope that helps.
