The Justice Programs Office (JPO) at American University, along with key stakeholders in the field, are undertaking a survey of drug courts to identify patterns, trends and practices among drug treatment courts across the country. To that end, we are administering the Annual Drug Court Survey to a representative sample of drug treatment courts across the country. Previously conducted by the National Drug Court Institute (NDCI) under the name Painting the Current Picture, and funded by the Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA), this survey seeks to accomplish three critical goals: 1. Analyze policies, practices and procedures used by drug treatment courts to better understand their impact on participants. 2. Identify the populations who are most likely to participate in drug treatment courts. 3. Guide future research on policies, practices and procedures of drug treatment courts. To realize these goals, we need your help. Specifically, we are hoping to obtain a larger sample of Tribal Healing to Wellness Courts as part of this survey effort, so we adequately capture information on how Tribal Healing to Wellness Courts currently operate, who they serve, and what challenges they face. If you are a judge, coordinator or team member of a Tribal Healing to Wellness Court and would like your court to take part in this survey, please contact Blaine Stum at bstum at american.edu or 202-88-2875.
