Hello Everyone:

The National Association of Drug Court Professionals has approved of a skill building workshop to occur on Wednesday, June 1, 2016 from 8:45-11:45 a.m. This workshop is focused on rural programs and strategies that are effective and efficient in rural/frontier drug courts across the country. We are looking for nine model/exemplary rural/frontier Drug Court programs/strategies that can be replicated by other rural/frontier Drug Courts across the country. We are requesting nominees for this workshop and presentations that will occur for approximately 20 minutes as part of this workshop. If selected, you will receive $300 off of your registration fee. Examples of rural/frontier models we would like to highlight include: telecommunication's efforts that might include staffings, dockets and treatment delivery, examples of medically assisted treatment strategies, drug free housing options, recovery management system options for drug court participants during and after discharge, phone applications used during and after drug court to help maintain recovery, creative ways of monitoring urinalysis in rural areas, innovative avenues for meeting the new adult drug court standards, options for assessing family members of drug court participants, etc. Models will be selected from nominations from local drug courts, state Drug Court coordinators, the national rural listserv, suggestions from NADCP staff, suggestions from the staff of the Center for Court Innovation, Children and Family Futures, American University, Office of Justice Programs, Department of Justice staff, National Rural Institute on Alcohol and Drug Abuse and others. Presentations will last a total of 20 minutes each including a short question and answer period. Presenters will be encouraged to provide handouts for follow-up by participants post NADCP conference. Additionally, participants will be provided a handout listing special resources important to frontier/rural Drug Courts.

Participants will learn about new Drug Court models to be utilized particularly in rural/frontier Drug Courts.
Participants will receive handouts from each presenter providing specific information and contact persons for models programs they wish to pursue.

If you would like to present a strategy or program that you feel is exemplary that others in rural/frontier jurisdictions should know about, please complete the information request below and email to: JKushner at MT.Gov<mailto:JKushner at MT.Gov>. Thank you.
