The Alaska Native Justice Center (ANJC) is a tribal non-profit created in 1993 to address the growing unmet needs of the Alaska Native community in relation to the state’s justice system, both civil and criminal. ANJC remains the only organization whose purpose is to advocate for those involved in the system, both defendants and victims through culturally based advocacy, prevention and intervention initiatives.

The Alaska Native Justice Center’s Youth Diversion Program is recognized by the State of Alaska court system as a Community Diversion Panel with a certified PRIME for Life Under 21 instructor on staff. Through this program, case management services are provided to youth referred by the court after their first Minor Consuming Alcohol (MCA) offense.

Through ANJC’s Youth Diversion Program, there is an opportunity to educate youth about the realities of alcohol abuse and addiction, address myths associated with drinking, and introduce them to healthy alternatives. Currently, ANJC has assisted over 1,000 youth with MCA offenses and has established partnerships with key agencies including law enforcement, tribal courts, tribal administrators, and State District Attorney and Public Defenders.
