The issue of racial and ethnic disproportionality within the child welfare system has required administrators, program managers, and policymakers to move beyond acknowledgement of a problem to the formulation of implementation of possible solutions.   This presentation will explore demographic data from current FDC evaluations to raise the important discussion about disproportionality in FDC programs and whether they are serving children and families that are representative of the overall child welfare population in their jurisdictions?  This webinar will also help FDC teams evaluate their systems to identify where and how disproportionality is occurring and the need for changes in policy and practice at these specific decision points.  A panel of presenters from the University of Washington, King County (WA) Family Drug Court, and Tribal Law and Policy Institute will explore solutions for addressing racial disproportionality in FDCs and the importance of doing this collaboratively across CWS, treatment, and Court systems.

Learning Objectives:
1. Gain current knowledge of racial ethnic disproportionality in systems impacting FDC participants, including child welfare, criminal justice, and treatment systems.
2. Identify opportunities for policy and practice changes across systems and multiple decision points
3. Explore collaborative solutions and concrete next steps for your FDC team to address racial disproportionality in program and jurisdiction
